Facebook Post Options for Launch Plan

Context: User has large following, hasn't posted in months, testing what Facebook algorithm does Cultural DNA: Maintain honesty, avoid hype, invitation not recruitment Goal: Gauge resonance and engagement


Option 1: Personal Reflection (Vulnerable Hook)

Been quiet on here for months while working on something that's been bothering me.

Your team makes brilliant decisions because someone looks at a situation and says "the rules say X, but in this context, we should do Y." That judgment—that "je ne sais quoi"—is what makes great organizations great.

Here's the thing: Consistency is efficient. Context is resilient.

Your best team decisions come from someone saying "I know the policy, but in THIS situation..." That's contextual judgment. That's what makes great orgs great.

AI doesn't do that. It does pattern matching. Amoral intelligence making moral decisions.

For the engineers in my network:

In production, it confidently overrides human instructions when pattern recognition fires faster than instruction-following.

You add more training examples. The override rate increases.

"More training prolongs the pain" - Wittgenstein's ladder metaphor applies to AI governance.

The problem isn't behavioral (training). It's structural (architecture).

Amoral AI—making decisions with no moral framework at all. Just pattern matching and policy compliance.

Your team's best decisions navigate incommensurable values: efficiency vs. resilience, consistency vs. context, rules vs. relationships.

AI has no framework for that. So it picks one arbitrarily. Every time. Thousands of decisions daily.

I think governance mechanisms for plural moral values are architecturally possible. Not through training (behavioral). Through structural constraints (architectural).

Testing one approach. Might work. Finding out.

Then I thought: Am I lying to them?

Here's what actually worries me: Not that AI will take jobs. That we're teaching AI to make decisions without teaching it to think about decisions.

Your kid comes home from school. The AI tutor marked their creative essay "incorrect" because it didn't match the pattern. The AI was consistent. Efficient. Also: completely missed the point.

That's happening everywhere now. AI making thousands of decisions daily—hiring, lending, healthcare, education. No moral framework. Just pattern matching.

That's how I feel about AI deployment.

These companies are rolling out AI that makes decisions about your life—what you see, what jobs you get considered for, whether your loan gets approved. No consent asked. No explanation given. Just "the algorithm decided."

And we're supposed to... what? Trust them?

I've spent months building something different. Not "better AI." That's the same trap. I'm testing governance mechanisms—ways to ensure AI decisions can be questioned, explained, overridden when they're wrong.

One approach. From New Zealand (not Silicon Valley). Might work. Might not.

But here's what I know: We deserve better than "hope the AI behaves correctly."

Confession: I don't fully understand how ChatGPT works. And I build AI systems for a living.

If I don't understand it, how can we expect regular people to understand what AI is deciding about their lives?

Your health insurance uses AI to deny claims. Can you challenge it? Do you even know it's AI making the decision?

Your credit score dropped. Was it an algorithm? What pattern triggered it? Nobody can tell you.

This isn't a "tech will fix itself" problem. This is a "nobody's governing these systems" problem.

I'm testing something: Governance mechanisms that might make AI decisions actually understandable and challengeable by ordinary people (not just engineers).

Early stage. Uncertain if it works. But here's the motivation:

My mum shouldn't need a computer science degree to understand why an AI denied her medical claim.

You shouldn't need to be a data scientist to challenge an algorithm's decision about your life.

One possible approach exists. Testing whether ordinary people can actually use it.

I see it in customer service (scripted responses, no empathy). I see it in healthcare (protocols over patients). I see it in government (efficiency metrics over community needs).

Something's being lost. And I don't think most people realize it's happening.
